Dear Valued Retailer or Potential Retailer:

You may be aware that on August 28, 2017 Mayor de Blasio signed into law several items that relate to e-cigarette sales. While we at JUUL Labs Inc. may not agree with certain provisions in the new laws, we want to help our retailer partners understand the situation, prepare for compliance, and continue to serve customers looking for a satisfying alternative to cigarettes. Please note that this is our interpretation of the regulations and should not be considered legal advice or replace any advice that you have gotten from your lawyers.

Among the new provisions is a requirement that retailers that plan on selling e-cigarettes after August 23, 2018 become licensed. This license is separate from, and in addition to, any license you may have to sell cigarettes or other tobacco products.

Dates | NYC E-cigarette Licensing Event

January 25, 2018 | Retailers selling e-cigarettes as of this date may apply for a e-cigarette retailer license.

April 25, 2018 | Licensing window closes

April 26 - August 22, 2018 | The city will process applications received during the application period.

The city intends to reduce the amount of retailers selling e-cigarettes which makes it very important to apply for a license within the January 25 - April 25, 2018 period.

Only retailers selling e-cigarettes as of August 28, 2017 may apply for a e-cigarette retailer license. If you are considering changing your business name, moving your store location, selling your business, or making any other major change before acquiring a license, we recommend seeking legal advice.
